Kris Verheyen is a well-known figure in the Belgian laser technology sector. In this conversation, Kris shares his extensive experience in laser technology and his role as an agent for HSG and Landré in Belgium. He talks about his background, the decision to collaborate with Landré, and how his technical expertise helps Belgian companies find the right laser cutting machine.
Kris has over 27 years of experience in laser technology, making him an expert in the field. His career began as an operator at Tulip Laser Processing, where he quickly became involved in the installation and integration of advanced technologies, such as robots for automated feeding on laser engraving machines. This was back in 1997, a pioneering phase when the technology was still in full development.
After his time at Tulip Laser Processing, Kris continued his career at ACD NV in Essen, where he first encountered fiber lasers. “When we bought a Chinese fiber laser machine, I immediately saw a gap in the market. Many companies were investing in laser cutters, but service was often overlooked. This presented an opportunity for us,” Kris explains.
This realization led him to start selling Chinese laser cutting machines himself. He delivered these machines throughout Belgium, from West Flanders to Limburg. In addition to machine sales, Kris focuses on freelance service, specializing in maintenance and upgrading laser cutting machines. From replacing cutting heads to solving cutting problems and training new operators, his assignments were highly diverse.
Kris provides his clients with a complete approach to laser cutters, from advice and sales to installation and training. With years of experience across various brands, he has built extensive technical expertise, allowing him to offer in-depth guidance. “In these 27 years, I have experienced every aspect of the profession, from operator to technician and trainer.”
“One recent project? Upgrading a 1.5kW laser cutting machine to 3kW and replacing electric chucks with larger pneumatic ones. A specific gear was required, but not readily available. Thanks to my knowledge of parts and suppliers, I ordered three gears with the exact same specifications from different foreign suppliers. In the end, only one fit. Had I not contacted multiple suppliers at once, the client might have faced production delays.”
“I partnered with Landré because it is a well-established name in both Belgium and the Netherlands. What I appreciate most is the support I receive, allowing me to focus on what I enjoy most: advising customers on the right choice and assisting them with installation and training,” says Kris.
HSG Laser stands for quality and is among the top five largest Chinese manufacturers of laser cutting machines. “Their machines reflect this. High-quality materials and robust constructions result in solid and functional machines.”
